19 Best Places to Eat in Ubud, Bali

Ubud is definitely one of the best places to eat in Bali. You can pretty much find any cuisine you’re looking for including various vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Canggu is also a great places for good eats. Check out our favorite restaurants in Canggu here.

TACO CASA

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Ubud. This place is nice and laid back just like you would want it to be. A mix between a fast food joint and one a little more upscale. The food is delicious and the staff is really friendly and accommodating. We have lunch at this spot at least once a week. If you’re looking for your fix of Mexican this is your spot. Nothing too fancy but all the hearty goodness you expect in a nice big burrito.

BALI BUDA

Another one of our favorite little places that we frequent quite often. Healthy delicious food that hits you with less guilt than if you had the same food at a different spot. All the food on the menu is good and they have breakfast as well. Most options can be made gluten free or vegetarian. We also love the fact that they have a small play area that we can set Zayd down in while we look at the menu.

CLEAR CAFE & SPA

When you first see this place the door immediately grabs your attention. It’s a round door that feels like you’re visiting a hobbit home. After leaving your shoes in a cubby at the front door you walk inside. The decor is really cool with a fish pond along the entire side of the room and a spiral staircase right in the middle. They’ve got some cozy floor seating with cushions and some high tables. A cool glass bridge Zayd enjoys walking back and forth on and a firefighters pole on the second floor as a quick way to jump the bill! The food is absolutely delicious with tons of options it’s sometimes hard to decide!

** Also, we haven’t had the chance to try it but there is a spa inside this restaurant. I imagine it would be perfect to get a massage and then have a bit to eat afterwards. The spa menu looks awesome too!

WARUNG FALAFEL

I have to confess that I’ve been really put off falafel for a few years now so I was not excited to try this place at all when Waseem suggested it but man was I surprised. It’s a quick bite to eat joint that’s located in the Ubud Market area. You choose your bread and then you pick your fillings. This is the most delicious falafel sandwich I think I’ve ever had! And I’m Arab! It’s one of those places I know I’m definitely going to miss when we leave Bali.

This is a pretty good Indonesian restaurant. It’s got two floors and some outdoor seating upstairs. There’s a small play area with a slide for kids. Chill vibe and super affordable. It located a bit outside of the center. I don’t think I would go out of the way to go to it but if I found myself in the area it’s definitely a good lunch/dinner option.

Delicious restaurant. Perfect for a nice big hearty western style breakfast like eggs benedict and tasty lunch options like a Banh Mi or a duck sandwich. They have really good pastries too and sourdough bread that we lived on while living in Ubud! They also have a really pretty outdoor garden away from the main street with a pretty big coy pond and lots of greenery.

BARONG BRIDGE CAFE

This place has a really awesome green view and really delicious food! Anything you order on the menu will be worth it. It’s got some indoor and some outdoor seating. The outdoor area looks out on a very pretty palm tree view. The only problem is, it’s a pretty noisy spot if you choose to sit outside. In our opinion, the food is so good it’s worth it.

Hands down the BEST Indonesian food we’ve had anywhere on the island! Totally worth going out of your way for! I would go at the beginning of your trip because guaranteed you’ll love it so much you’ll want to be able to have it again before you leave. This place is nestled in the quiet of the rice fields, away from the hustle and bustle of the center of Ubud. It’s a tiny place with lots of plants all around. The food is spectacular and the prices can’t be beat! Definitely definitely go here!

WHO’S WHO

Delicious little Belgian Cafe. It’s located right in the busy center of town but down a little alleyway that makes it quiet enough to escape the craziness and maybe even get some work done. Tuna tartar was amazing and by far the BEST Iced coffee I think I’ve ever had in my entire life. It’s a home-made recipe with cinnamon and cacao. It’s worth checking this place out just for the coffee! I would even swing by there and get it to go.

KAGEMUSHA

The best Japanese food in Bali! This place is a must try! It’s hidden away down a little walkway that you would never know existed unless someone told you about it. So there are no tourists there which we really liked since it’s been super busy around town these days because of high season. They don’t have sushi as you would expect a Japanese place to have but they do have bento boxes, rice bowls, and tempura options. The food is so delicious we had to go back a couple days in a row. It’s also super affordable! The food is really fresh and they use lots of local ingredients in their dishes. Craving their food as I write this post. Can’t wait to go back!

MUSE CAFE & ART

This is a little gem with unbelievably delicious food. They’re doing a soft opening at the moment and it is so worth giving it a try! It got breakfasts and main dishes. We had some Indian food cause we haven’t really been able to find good Indian since we got here and it was very good. We also had a salad that I think was possibly the best salad I’ve ever had, really filling too. It’s in a quiet area amidst the trees and situated a bit higher than the street so you kind of get that jungle feel. It’s also nice not to see the cars and bikes go by.
